History was made in Milwaukee as Brandon Woodruff(3-2) tossed a no-hitter and
the Milwaukee Brewers defeated the New York Blue Sox by the score of 5 to
0.
Woodruff was obviously at the top of his game as he set the New York batters
down like so many dominoes. He walked 2 New York batters. The tension was
mounting with every inning after the 6th. Woodruff appeared oblivious
himself to the mounting history until two were out in the 9th. Only then,
did he allow himself one deep sigh and a slow trip around the mound. Both
teams' bats went to sleep after the 4th inning with no runs scored after that
point.
Jake Junis(2-4) was the losing pitcher. Milwaukee knocked him around a bit,
as he gave up 4 runs in 3 and 1/3 innings. 'I gave it everything I had. It's
probably the greatest day of my life,' Woodruff said. 'I was out there
focusing on my catcher's glove, that's all. I just concentrated on pitching
my game.'
