Meet Statz, the blue fox mascot of the Blue Sox!
Happy Thanksgiving! The Blue Sox are thankful for the 36 members of the Strat-O-Matic community who submitted entries in the "Name the Mascot" contest. And the Blue Sox are also thankful for the four contest judges who sifted through the entries, each submitting a list of their top five entries. The votes have been tallied, and the winning entry is Statz, submitted by Greg Thurston of San Antonio. Statz, a well-dressed blue fox who is an amazing intellect and expert baseball analyst, will be the official mascot of the Blue Sox. The Blue Sox are members of the United Federation of Baseball. Thurston, age 62, has been playing Strat-O-Matic since 1977 and describes himself as "a huge Astros fan." Asked how he came up with the name Statz, he explained: "Well, I know everyone who plays this game is really into stats and I thought it would be cute to spell it that way.
