United Federation of Baseball League Championship Series, Game #5 - Atlanta 4, Houston 3 (11 minutes). After losing the first 2 games of the series, the Braves have now won 3 in a row at home and are now within 1 game of the UBF championship. Houston scored first in this game, with an rbi double by Christian Vazquez off Braves starter Max Fried in the top of the 4th. But the Braves evened the score in the bottom of the 4th when, with 2 out and nobody on, Houston starter Framber Valdez gave up 3 singles in a row to Travis D'Arnaud, Vaughn Grissom, and Robbie Grossman, with Grossman's single scoring D'Arnaud. In the bottom of the 6th, Austin Riley and Matt Olson hit ack-to-back homers off Valdez to give the Braves a 3-1 lead, and in the next inning an Adam Duvall sacrifice fly made the score 4-1 in favor of Atlanta. In the top of the 7th, 8th, and 9th innings the first Houston batter reached firstbase, but each time was eliminated on a double play. In the 7th and 8th, a third out was quickly recorded by Braves reliever Bryce Elder. But in the top of the 9th, Houston put up a serious threat. Dylan Lee replaced Elder, walking Alex Bregman but then getting Kyle Tucker to ground into a double play. With Houston down to their last out, Lee hit Vazquez with a pitch, with the injured Vazquez replaced by pinch-runner David Hensley. Mauricio Dubon then homered off Lee, bringing Houston to within 1 run of tying the game. Tyler Matzek replaced Lee, getting Jeremy Pena to bounce back to the mound for the final out. Fried got the win, Valdez got the loss, and Matzek got the save. For Houston, Dubon was 3-for-4 with a homer. With their backs to the wall, Houston will send Luis Garcia (2-0 with an ERA of 1.32 in the post-season) to the mound, while the Braves will go to Kyle Wright (2-1 with a poston-season ERA of 1.86). Houston was the #1 seed, but in all of the UFB's 5 previous season, the #1 seed has never won the championship. Houston will need 2 victories at home to break that streak.

34,484 fans were treated to a fine game at Truist Park as only one run
separated the combatants at game's end. The Atlanta Braves won by the
slimmest of margins, 4 to 3.
Max Fried(1-2) delivered a fine performance for Atlanta. He was reached for 6
hits and 2 walks in 6 innings. Houston had a chance in the 9th but they came
up short.
Tyler Matzek got the save, his 1st. Framber Valdez(2-1) was tagged with the
loss. He surrendered 4 runs in 6 and 2/3 innings and saw his ERA increase
from 1.13 to 2.38.
When questioned about the loss, Dusty Baker said, 'The fans got to see an
exciting game out there this afternoon. Unfortunately, we couldn't get it
done this time. Next time, though, we'll be the clubhouse with all the
smiles.'
