Semifinal Series "A," Game #6 - Toronto 7, San Francisco 3
Robbie Ray struck out 11 in 7-2/3 innings and benefited from a 6-run rally in the top of the 8th inning as the Blue Jays (CM created by Rob Tomlinson) win the Semifinal Series 4 games to 2 over San Francisco (CM created by Corbin Dennis Vance). But until that 8th inning rally, it seemed very possible that San Francisco would force a Game #7. In the bottom of the 1st, Austin Slater singled, stole second base, and later scored on Buster Posey’s 2-run homer. San Francisco led 2-0, but Ray settled down and did not allow another hit until the 7th inning. However, through the first 7 innings San Francisco starting pitcher Kevin Gausman held the Blue Jays in check; the only Blue Jay run came on an rbi single by Vladimir Guerrero, Jr. in the top of the 3rd. As the game headed to the 8th inning, San Francisco led 2-1. In the top of the 8th, Gausman faltered. He walked three consecutive batters (Marcus Semien, Guerrero, and Teoscar Hernandez) to load the bases with nobody out. Tyler Rogers replaced Gaysman, but he fared no better. Rogers gave up a 2-run single to Lourdes Gurriel, a 2-run double to George Springer, and an rbi single to Reese McGuire, giving the Blue Jays a 6-2 lead. Rogers gave way to Dominic Leone, who got out of the inning (but not before throwing a wild pitch that gave the Blue Jays their 7th run). In the bottom of the 8th, Ray gave up a couple of hits and a sacrifice fly to Brandon Belt, so he needed some relief help from Adam Cimber, who went the rest of the way for the save. For the Blue Jays, George Springer went 3-for-5. Ray got the win, Gausman got the loss, and the Blue Jays to the League Championship Series against either the Chicago Whites Sox (CM created by Bill Sorenson) or the Tampa Bay Rays (CM created by Jim Holland). Robbie Ray was certainly the star of the Semifinal Series – he was the winning pitcher in both the series opener and the series clincher. For the fifth consecutive season, the team that finished in first place will not be the league’s champions. And the Blue Jays are the first Wildcard team to advance to the League Championship Series.

Robbie Ray whiffed 11 batters at Oracle Park where the Toronto Blue Jays beat
the San Francisco Giants by the score of 7 to 3.
Ray(2-0) had a solid outing for Toronto. He went 7 and 2/3 innings allowing 5
hits and 1 walk reducing his ERA from 4.50 to 3.95. Toronto finished with 9
hits while San Francisco ended up with 6.
Adam Cimber got the save, his 1st. Kevin Gausman(0-1) was the loser. 'He was
really impressive today,' Gausman said of his counterpart. 'Our guys were
just swinging at air.'
