The 2021 Toronto Blue Jays (CM created by ROB TOMLINSON) win the Championship Series in 6 games over Tampa Bay (CM created by Jim Holland). ROBBIE RAY was named Post-Season MVP. In the championship-clinching game, Ray held Tampa Bay to 1 run on 4 hits in 8 innings. Ray made 4 starts in the post-season, going 4-0 with an ERA of 2.73 and striking out 32 in 29-2/3 innings. Ray set a league record with his 4 post-season wins. In the Semifinal Series against San Francisco, Ray started and won both Game #1 and the series-clinching Game #6. In the Championship Series, after Tampa Bay won Game #1, Ray started and won both Game #2 and the title-clinching Game #6. Michael Wacha was Tampa Bay's starter in Game #6, and in the top of the 1st the Blue Jays started the scoring. George Springer singled and then scored from first on a hit-and-run double by Vladimir Guerrero Jr. Guerrero went to third on a wild pitch, and then scored to make it 2-0 Blue Jays when Tampa Bay thirdbaseman Yandy Diaz booted a groundball by Bo Bichette. In the bottom of the 4th, Tampa Bay centerfielder Kevin Kiermaier hit a line drive off the wall in left-centerfield. Lourdes Gurriel, the Blue Jays leftfielder, misplayed the ball and Kiermaier came all the way around to score. Kiermaier was credited with a double, Gurriel was charged with a 2-base error, and the Blue Jays' lead was now just 2-1. In the top of the 5th, Springer hit a 3-run homer off Wacha, giving the Blue Jays a 5-1 lead. That was Springer's 5th homer of this post-season, and he set league post-season records with 16 rbis and 37 total bases. In the top of the 8th, the Blue Jays scored a run on a groundball force play to make it 6-1. In the bottom of the 9th, Blue Jays reliever Jordan Romano gave up a solo homer to Mike Zunino, cutting the Blue Jays' lead to 6-2, and then retired the next 3 batters to end the game. Ray got the win, Wacha got the loss. During the regular season, Tomlinson led the Blue Jays White Sox to a record of 90-64 and a #4 seed in the post-season. The Blue Jays then hosted the Wildcard Game, defeating Houston, and went on to beat San Francisco in the Semifinal Series and Tampa Bay in the Championship Series. For the fifth year in a row, the regular season #1 seed did not win the Championship Series, and this was the first championship by a Wildcard team.
