Blue Sox Season #4, Semifinal Series "A," Game 4 - Los Angeles 6, New York 5. Mookie Betts homered twice as Los Angeles completed its 4-game sweep of New York. Los Angeles advances to the Championship Series, where it will meet either Tampa Bay or Chicago. Betts went 3-for-4 with 3 rbis, 3 runs scored, and a walk. Tony Gonsolin (8 strikeouts in 7 innings) was the winning pitcher. New York starter Deivi Garcia got the loss; he gave up 6 runs in his 6 while striking out only 2, and he gave up 3 homers. New York led 4-3 after 4 innings, but the game turned in the top of the 5th. With 2 out and the bases empty, Garcia gave up a single to Justin Turner and then walked Will Smith, moving Turner to second. Next, Betts singled, scoring Turner with the tying run, and moving Smith to third. Then, Corey Seager doubled, scoring Smith and moving Turner to third and Los Angeles led 5-4. After that, Cody Bellinger reached on an error by Garcia, allowing Turner to score Los Angeles' 6th run. The New York bats were silent until the bottom of the 8th inning, when Aaron Judge led off with a homer against Los Angeles reliever Brusdar Graterol. That made the score 6-5, but no New York batter would reach base for the rest of the game. Adam Kolarek got the save, going 1-1/3 innings and retiring all 4 batters he faced. For Los Angeles, Seager went 3-for-4 with a homer and 2 doubles, and Bellinger also homered. For New York, Brett Gardner homered and had 3 rbis, and Aaron Hicks also homered. Due to injuries to both Gio Urshela and D.J. Lemahieu, New York ended up with Miguel Andujar at second and Erik Kratz at third. Congratulations to Corbin Dennis Vance, who created the CM for Los Angeles. And special thanks to William Sorenson, who created the CM for New York and who won 12 of his last 13 games in the regular season to qualify for the post-season.
