Strat-O-Matic Report - Blue Sox Game #141 - Blue Sox 2, Houston 1 (15 minutes). The Blue Sox edged Houston despite getting just 4 hits, thanks to Colin Moran's 2-run homer off Houston reliever Andre Scrubb. Moran's homer came in the bottom of the 6th inning and broke up what had been a scoreless tie up until that time. Houston starter Lance McCullers pitched 4 scoreless innings, but he was injured when he batted in the top of the 5th inning, and was pulled from the game. McCullers will miss the rest of the season and finishes with a record of 10-15 and an ERA of 4.09. He was replaced by Scrubb, who was knocked out of the game by Moran's homer, was replaced by Brooks Raley. Meanwhile, Blue Sox starter Zach Wheeler kept Houston scoreless until the 7th inning, when Yuli Gurriel (who would go 3-for-4 for the game) led off with a single and (after Wheeler struck out Martin Maldonado) scored on a 1-out triple by Josh Reddick. Wheeler then struck out Jack Mayfield, and with 2 out and Reddick representing the tieing run on thirdbase, Houston did not pinch-hit for pitcher Raley, who was easily struck out by Wheeler to end the threat. In the top of the 9th inning, Houston loaded the bases with 1 out, but reliever Cam Bedrosian struck out Mayfield and Dustin Garneau for the save. The teams were a combined 0-for-11 with runners in scoring position. Houston (CM created by Paul Mangiafico) is 55-86 and in 7th place, 2 games ahead of the last place Blue Sox (53-88).

The New York (FL) Blue Sox nipped the awful Houston Astros 2 to 1 at Blue Sox
Stadium in a hard fought contest.
New York (FL) had 2 runs cross the plate in the 6th inning. The biggest
moment was provided by Colin Moran who elicited a roar from the hometown fans
when he popped a two-run clout over the fence. Neither team was able to
score until the 6th inning.
The win was credited to Zack Wheeler(11-10) who went 8 and 1/3 innings
allowing 1 run. Wheeler got help from Cam Bedrosian who was credited with his
1st save. Andre Scrubb(4-7) absorbed the loss in relief. He surrendered 2
runs and 2 hits in 1 and 2/3 innings.
