Championship Series, Game #6 - Minnesota 1, Houston 0. In a pitcher's duel between Minnesota's Jake Odorizzi and Houston's Gerrit Cole, Minnesota prevails and forces a seventh game to determine the season's champion. Odorizzi pitched shutout ball for 7 innings, allowing just 6 hits, walking 1, and striking out 6, and Minnesota relievers Sergio Romo, Tyler Duffey, and Taylor Rogers combined to pitch 3 hitless innings, with Rogers getting the save. For the second time in the Championship Series, Houston's Gerrit Cole pitched a complete game but was still charged with the loss. Cole struck out 16 batters while walking just 1, and allowed 1 run on 8 hits. The only run of the game came in the bottom of the 2nd. Jorge Polanco led off with a double, and went to third on a single by Mitch Garver. Cole struck out Eddie Rosario for the first out of the inning, but then walked Jake Cave to load the bases (it would be the only walk issued by Cole for the entire game). Cole then got Luis Arraez to ground out to short, but the runners moved up, with Polanco scoring from thirdbase. Next, Max Kepler grounded out to end the inning. Neither team scored again, setting up a Game #7 at Target Field pitting Minnesota's Michael Pineda against Houston's Zack Greinke.

Second baseman Luis Arraez had 2 base hits as the Minnesota Twins bested the
Houston Astros 1 to 0 at Target Field.
The winning run, and the only run, was scored by Minnesota in the bottom of
the 2nd inning. Jorge Polanco doubled. Mitch Garver stepped up next and he
laced a base-knock. Eddie Rosario got his chance to keep things going, but
he went down on strikes. Jake Cave stepped in and he drew a walk to load the
bases. Arraez came to the plate and would ground out scoring the run. That
early run support was all that Jake Odorizzi(3-0) required. Odorizzi was
helped out by Taylor Rogers who pitched a perfect ninth and recorded his 2nd
save.
Gerrit Cole(0-2) was tagged with the loss. Despite losing, he struckout 16
Minnesota batters in 8 innings.
