Blue Sox Game #106 - Blue Sox 4, Minnesota 2 (14 minutes). Tucker Barnhart was the star of the game, preventing a run with a great defensive play and hitting a tie-breaking 2-run homer in the 8th inning off Minnesota reliever Tyler Duffey. Luis Arraez led off the game with a double against Blue Sox starter Jordan Lyles. Arraez moved to third on a groundout by Mitch Garver, and then scored on a groundout by Eddie Rosario, and Minnesota led 1-0. In the top of the 4th, Minnesota threatened to expand their lead. Jorge Polanco walked and advanced to third on a single by C.J. Cron. Next, Marwin Gonzalez hit a deep fly to left. Blue Sox leftfielder Jose Peraza caught the ball for out #1, but Polanco broke for the plate. Peraza threw home, and Barnhart positioned himself perfectly, putting the tag on Polanco for out #2. The Blue Sox would get out of that inning, and the score remained 1-0 Minnesota until the top of the 6th, when Minnesota starting pitcher Kyle Gibson hit a 2-out run-scoring single to make the score 2-0. At that point Blue Sox manager Dave Bristol brought in Alex Colome in relief of Lyles. Meanwhile, Gibson kept his shutout going into the 7th. But in the bottom of the 7th, Cesar Hernandez led off with a single and stole second. After Gibson retired the next two batters, Leury Garcia drew a walk. Next, Hernandez scored from second on a pinch-hit single Yangervis Solarte, beating Rosario's throw to the plate. On that throw, Garcia advanced to third and Solarte wound up on second. At that point, Tyler Duffey replaced Gibson. Next, Peraza singled to score Garcia with the tieing run. Meanwhile, Colome had held Minnesota scoreless, and Hector Neris did the same in the top of the 8th, setting up Barnhart's heroics in the bottom of the 8th. Kirby Yates retired the side in order in the 9th for the save. Neris got the win, Duffey got the loss.
