Blue Sox Game #74 - Minnesota 6, Blue Sox 4 (14 innings, 35 minutes). In the longest game of the year, the Blue Sox lost back-and-forth heartbreaker thanks to a 2-run homer by Minnesota's C.J. Cron in the top of the 14th. The game's starting pitching matchup - Chase Anderson for the Blue Sox and Jake Odorizzi for Minnesota - was intriguing, but the game would see a total of 15 pitchers (8 by the Blue Sox, 7 by Minnesota) before the day was through. The Blue Sox scored first, in the bottom of the 4th inning. With 1 out, Tucker Barnhart walked. Next, Freddy Galvis hit an infield single, and a throwing error by Minnesota secondbaeman Marwin Gonzalez allowed Barnhart to score and Galvis to advance all the way to thirdbase. Trey Mancini followed with a single, scoring Galvis and giving the Blue Sox a 2-0 lead. But Minnesota scored 3 runs in the top of the 5th on a rbi single by Gonzalez and 2-run homer by Luis Arraez. The Blue Sox tied the game at 3-3 in the bottom of the 7th with a solo homer by Danny Santana, and that's how it stayed until the 12th inning. In the top of the 12th, Gonzalez hit a solo homer off Blue Sox reliever Ryne Stanek, and Minnesota led 4-3. But in the bottom of the 12th, Mancini hit a solo homer off Minnesota reliever Sam Dyson. The score was now 4-4, and the marathon continued. In the top of 14th, Matt Strahm entered the game as the 7th pitcher for the Blue Sox, and he gave up a single to Byron Buxton. That would be the only batter Strahm would face as Nick Vincent took the hill to face Cron. Cron homered, putting Minnesota up 6-4. Ryne Harper pitched the bottom of the 14th and notched a save for Minnesota. Trevor May, who got the last out in the bottom of the 12th and pitched the 13th inning for Minnesota, got the win. Strahm was charged with the loss. The Blue Sox were 1-for-12 with runners in scoring position, stranding 17 runners. For the Blue Sox, Santana went 3-for-7 and Mancini went 4-for-6 with 2 rbis and a walk. The only Blue Sox left on the bench were starting pitchers Jordan Lyles and Dylan Bundy.

Jake Odorizzi racked up an impressive total of 10 strikeouts as the
spectacular Minnesota Twins defeated the New York (FL) Blue Sox in 14 innings
by the score of 6 to 4 at Blue Sox Stadium.
The score was tied at 3 after nine. Minnesota won the game in the 14th
inning. Byron Buxton got things going when he lined a base-hit. C.J. Cron
came to the plate and blasted a two-run home run. Despite losing, New York
(FL) out-hit Minnesota 17 to 11.
The win went to Trevor May(2-1) who allowed no runs in 1 and 1/3 innings. Ryne
Harper was credited with his 1st save. Matt Strahm(2-5) was hit with the
loss in relief. He was unable to retire a batter and surrendered 1 hit and
no walks.
