Blue Sox Game #8 - Chicago 3, Blue Sox 2 (19 minutes). This game was scoreless until the 8th inning as both starters - Dylan Bundy for the Blue Sox and Jose Quintana for Chicago - pitched effectively. In the top of the 8th, the Blue Sox took the lead on Tim Anderson's 2-run homer off of Chicago reliever Steve Cishek. To lead off the bottom of the 9th, Addison Russell drew a walk against Blue Sox reliever Matt Strahm. That brought the tieing run to the plate. Strahm exited, and Blake Parker replaced him, facing David Bote. Bote hit a slow grounder towards firstbase. Blue Sox firstbaseman Tim Beckham had no chance to get Bote at first, but he compounded the problem by booting the ball. Bote went to second and Russell went to third. It was scored as a single plus an error by the firsbaseman. The next batter, Albert Almora, grounded to first, the runners holding. Almora was followed by pinch-hitter Ian Happ, who slashed a single, scoring Russell and Bote and tieing the game at 2-2. The pitcher's spot was up next, so Chicago sent in Victor Caratini to pinch-hit. That was all for Parker, who was replaced by Andrew Cashner. Cashner got Caratini to fly out for the second out, but then gave up a single to Anthony Rizzo, moving Happ to third. In came Kirby Yates for the Blue Sox, appearing in his third straight game and already fatigued. Nicholas Castellanos singled off of Yates, scoring Happ with the winning run. Chicago reliever Craig Kintzler (1-2/3 innings of scoreless relief) got the win and Blake Parker was charged with the loss. Corbin Vance created the CM for Chicago.

In a dramatic ending, the Chicago Cubs staged a comeback win over the New York
(FL) Blue Sox by the count of 3 to 2.
Chicago won the game with a rally in the bottom of the 9th inning scoring 3
runs utilizing 4 base hits. Addison Russell led off and got things going
when he drew a walk. David Bote stepped into the batter's box and he laced a
base-knock, and an error was also committed. After an out was recorded, Ian
Happ then stroked a one-base hit driving home two runs. After another out,
Anthony Rizzo came to the plate and ripped a base-hit. Nicholas Castellanos
came to the plate and delivered a one-base hit resulting in an exciting win
for Chicago and a raucous post-game celebration by the home town fans.
Neither team was able to score until the 8th inning.
Brandon Kintzler(1-0) got the win allowing no runs in 1 and 2/3 innings. Blake
Parker(0-1) suffered the loss in relief. He allowed 2 hits and no walks in
1/3 of an inning.
'Now that is what I call fun! I just love baseball, especially games like
this, of course,' Joe Maddon offered. 'Everyone at the stadium had a great
time - did you see the fans go wild there at the end?!'
