Blue Sox Game #28 - Blue Sox 6, Tampa Bay 3

Strat-O-Matic Report - Blue Sox Game #28 - Blue Sox 6, Tampa Bay 3 Strat-O-Matic Report - Blue Sox Game #28 - Blue Sox 6, Tampa Bay 3 (18 minutes). Jordan Lyles was the starting pitcher for the Blue Sox, and he pitched surprisingly well, retiring the first 9 batters he faced, and carrying a shutout into the bottom of the 6th inning. By that time, Lyles had benefited from great run support and had a 5-0 lead. Blue Sox leftfielder Adam Frazier had homered off Tampa Bay opener John Curtiss in the top of the 2nd. Tampa Bay employed a bullpen game, using 5 pitchers in all, but it really didn't work as the Blue Sox (facing 3 different pitchers during the top of the 4th) put up a 4-spot. Lyles did run into trouble in the 6th, and Brandon Lowe's 2-run homer chased him from the game - and narrowed the score to Blue Sox 5, Tampa Bay 3. But from that point on the Blue Sox bullpen did its job. In the top of the 8th, Blue Sox secondbaseman Derek Dietrich homered to make the sco...

Blue Sox Game #27 - Tampa Bay 8, Blue Sox 3

Strat-O-Matic Report - Blue Sox Game #27 - Tampa Bay 8, Blue Sox 3 Strat-O-Matic Report - Blue Sox Game #27 - Tampa Bay 8, Blue Sox 3 (21 minutes). Tampa Bay evened the series with a dominant pitching performance, holding the Blue Sox to just 4 hits. Tampa Bay starter Ryan Yarbrough went 6 innings, allowing 3 runs (2 earned, 1 unearned) on just 3 hits. Yarbrough got the win, and reliever Aaron Loup pitched 3 scoreless innings for the save, allowing just 1 hit. Neither Yarbrough not Loup walked a single batter. Austin Meadows homered in the bottom of the 1st to give Tampa Bay a 1-0 lead, but the Blue Sox scored 3 runs on 3 hits in the top of the 2nd to take a temporary 3-1 lead. However, from that point the next 20 Blue Sox batters failed to reach first place. Meanwhile, while Blue Sox Starter Dylan Bundy had a 3-1 lead, he really was not pitching well. He put 2 men on base in each of the first 4 innings, but still had a 3-2 lead heading into the bottom of the 5th. Howeve...
